Missing eMails

• Missing emails: If you used to receive mails and suddently mails start disappearing, you may want to check your Spam mailbox. You may uncheck a particular mail in your 'Spam' mail box, and mark it as 'Non spam'. Vice versa, you may mark a mail as 'Spam' in your in-box, and never have to be bothered by those senders that you want to avoid. • Mailing Lists: TACPA has been creating and managing mailing lists since it was established in 1997. It started from a homegrown poor man's mailing list tool (pub@tacpa.org) to a sophiscated mailing list utility called mailman. Mailman is capable of blocking marketing spammers and filtering attachments, which may have hidden virus. There were many instances that some users were abusing the mailing lists by sending flaming emails (See archived emails). Many users complained to TACPA. Hence the following mailing lists had been closed:
  Pub - closed on 6/5/08.
  News - closed - due to many bounced emails rejected by Comcast. Many ISPs provide email services with 'spam' prevention that can be initiated by user. Apparently, some senders were marked as spammers by Comcast.
  members@taagwc.org - closed on 11/22/08.

  Note: TACPA does not keep personal information, except email addresses. The email addresses used to be in members@taagwc.org were provided by Dr. Zutzang Hsu who maintained 2007-2008 TAAGWC directory database. TACPA withdrew this mailing list service and all the email addresses stored in members@taagwc.org were removed.

• Free virus scanner: Many of us have been attacked by virus, spam, scam etc. The virus can read people's address book and allow fraudsters to scam users to enter personal information on fake Web sites. This is known as phishing.

  Backing up before it is too late: Regardless how carefull you are, chanaces are your poor Window will be infected. The best way is to clean up and defragment the whole system for backuping the C partition. One of the backup tools is called ghost. The idea is to put all your personal information on a seprate partition say D drive. Once the system is illed, the backup C image can be restored with 20 minutes. You may purchase external USB hardrive for back up purpose. A 320GB hardrive is less than $80.
